Antique Partners and Pedestal

Early 19th Century Antique Mahogany Pedestal Desk

Early 19th century pedestal desk with five drawers and one cupboard on one side. The cupboard is disguised with false drawer fronts. The other side of the desk is finished with mahogany but does not have dummy drawers. Because it does not have drawers both sides the cupboard section of this desk is surprisingly deep. Although pictured here as it came in to us without having been waxed, or otherwise to have received any restoration at all, this desk has attained a wonderful patina and colour in its long life. The leather is nice and old and probably good enough to be waxed and conserved, although it is easy enough to fit a new skiver if required. This desk has good knee room with a 24" clearance underneath. It can be raised further if required. It has lovely Brahma locks stamped with the makers name.

18th Century George III Period Antique Estate Desk

18th century George III period mahogany estate desk. The estate desk was originally intended for use without a chair, so makes a very useful bedroom piece to use as a dessing table with mirror on top if there is no room for a chair, or as a small sideboard for the dining room as it is the perfect height at which to stand to serve.

Mahogany antique desk

Antique desk made of exceptionally fine mahogany with concave front and old green skiver. The quality and construction of this desk are second to none, slide open the drawers and check out the dovetails inside. I cant remember having seen a concave fronted desk before, but there is a similar shape one in the 18th century Gillows colour sketch book which also has a concave front as well as similarly graduated draws, see the scan below.
