Early 19th Century Regency Mahogany Antique Wine Cooler
This wine cooler is said to be of sarcophagus form which, along with the animal feet, shows the influence of classical Greek and Roman designs on the decorative arts at the time. The recent excavations in Greece and Pompeii also influenced designs of the times. There is a rope mechanism which automatically raises up the bottles to a more useful height when the lid is opened. This wine cooler is made of really good selections of mahogany with good 'flame' grain pattern and will look even better when our restorers have given it a good beeswax.
